Housing at Croydon - A new era of homes, services, and resident trust

Croydon Council is undergoing a bold transformation and housing is at the heart of it.

As part of the Future Croydon Transformation Plan 2024–2029, we are reimagining how we deliver housing services, raising standards, improving safety, and rebuilding trust with our residents. Over the past year, significant progress has been made to improve both the condition of homes, and the quality of service residents receive.

Real investment, real results

We’ve made meaningful changes to meet the needs of the people we serve:

  • Over £30 million invested in upgrading homes across the borough.
  • 86% of stock condition surveys completed, providing a clear roadmap for future improvements.
  • A dedicated repairs contact centre launched to streamline reporting and boost response times.
  • Following these efforts, the Regulator of Social Housing has lifted its previous notice, recognising the improvements in housing standards and resident engagement.

This is more than compliance – it’s a commitment to delivering safe, high-quality homes that residents are proud to live in.

Regina Road: Regeneration in action

At the centre of our housing ambitions is the £166 million regeneration of the Regina Road estate. This landmark project represents our renewed focus on:

  • Building safety and modernisation.
  • Resident-led design and co-creation.

Creating a safer, greener, and more liveable neighbourhood. We are doing more than rebuilding homes; we’re rebuilding confidence and community.

Future-focused housing services

We’re not just investing in infrastructure, we’re transforming how housing services operate, with:

  • A new Target Operating Model designed around resident needs and service efficiency.
  • A sharper focus on repairs, compliance, and fire and building safety.
  • Smarter digital tools, such as self-service portals and online appointment booking, to make it easier for residents to access the help they need.
  • A shift toward resident-led decision making and a culture of transparency and accountability.

With housing consistently among the top reasons residents contact the Council, this transformation is crucial to delivering fairer, faster, and more reliable support.

Each of these positions plays a vital role in reshaping our housing services for the future—ensuring safety, improving service delivery, and building trust with residents across our 15,000+ homes.

We’re building a future where every resident can expect a high-quality home, a responsive service, and a voice in shaping the places they live. If you’re a strategic leader ready to deliver lasting impact – Croydon is ready for you.
